Quality Assurance
At Champ’s, our commitment to quality assurance ensures we live up to our customer promise: to provide you with B.C.’s best, freshest, safest, high-quality mushrooms. Our Quality Assurance Team keeps a close eye on our operations, checking that proper care and handling practices — including Champ’s “cold chain” — are followed before, during and after harvest.
Champ’s Quality Assurance Checkpoints
- Safe Quality Foods (SQF) third-party audited with an “Excellent” rating
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system for stringent sanitation, hygiene and product recall protocol
- Products are cooled to between 2 and 3 degrees Celsius (35.6 and 37.4 degrees Fahrenheit) immediately upon harvest
- “Cold chain” maintained throughout processing and transportation
- All product inspected, graded, sorted and assembled in our new state-of-the-art “Fresh Distribution Facility”
- Quality control checked at each stage of production
- Modern refrigerated distribution fleet providing same day or overnight delivery
- Item-level coding and traceability available using HarvestMark systems
